Why do elephants have the reputation of having a good memory?

An elephant's brain is 4 times the size of a human's brain. Their memory capacity is legendary. The elephant relies on it's superior memory to direct them to food and watering holes. An elephant in the wild will live to be 50 to 60 years old, while an elephant in captivity can live to be up to 70 years. An elephant relies on its memory of lifetime experiences to know when a place or other elephant may be a danger or not.

The elephant also has a very BIG HEART weighing approximately 25 pounds. They are loving, gentle giants.
